Jobs like DNC also have big skillchains bonus and there is no reason to go for 6 step, when 3 and/or 4 step Darkness is already doing cap damage.
Doing 99k Radiance at the end means nothing if you make few 10k WSs and 15k skillchains to get there. Mob can also have strong resist or even absorb of few elements, so only specific lv2 or lv3 skillchains might be efective. For example if you are using weak WSs and 3+ Lv1 skillchains to build up, then it can be a huge dps loss.
